Symposium Committee

Welcome Message from Adam Lloyd, 2023 Hybrid Symposium Director:

Dear Current and Future PAVA Members:

We are excited to welcome you all to Miami Florida for the Pan American Vocology Association’s 2023 Hybrid Symposium, September 29th through October 1st, 2023.  On behalf of the University of Miami and the many PAVA volunteers hard at work preparing for the Symposium, we are thrilled to continue the tradition of providing an exceptional experience for our 3D and 2D attendees, by offering first rate and innovative academic content and fellowship.

Our Symposium will be housed in the beautiful Newman Alumni Center at the main University of Miami campus in Coral Gables Florida.  The Alumni Center provides us with fun and unique spaces for us to spread out, continue conversations, enjoy meals, and perhaps some surprise fun activities (hint… you might want to bring your song books and dancing shoes).  A short walk from the Alumni Center is our host hotel, THesis Hotel Miami.  This gorgeous new boutique hotel opened in 2020 and has spacious rooms, beautiful amenities, and two onsite restaurants.  Don’t delay with reserving your room, spaces are limited. THesis Hotel Miami reservations are available from September 27th to October 1st, 2023.  This is the only hotel within close walking distance.

PAVA values the rich diversity of our members who have much expertise and knowledge across vocology disciplines.  Understanding that there is also great value in content that is not categorized as scientific research, the PAVA planning committee is excited to introduce five new presentation categories including PedTalks, PedPosters, Special Topics, ToolTalks, and Microworkshops.  These categories were created to fill the much needed gap of content that is not research. You can read more about these new presentation categories HERE.

In an effort to extend learning and dissemination opportunities to all current members and new members, PAVA is dedicated to providing most content in both 3D and 2D, which truly sets PAVA aside from other multidisciplinary voice conferences.  In addition, PAVA is dedicated to offering Spanish and Portuguese interpretation for those whose preferred language is not English.

For those interested in seeking mentorship on research endeavors, PAVA is also rolling out the PAVA Research Mentoring Program.  This program allows those with less experience with the research process, to be paired with a mentor who will help you build on your brilliant ideas in vocology, to clear and presentable research endeavors.  It is also available to help PAVA members develop an abstract for any presentation category. You can find more information on the PAVA Research Mentoring Program HERE.

In addition to attending an innovative and fun Symposium, Miami is ripe with gorgeous beaches, palm trees, clear blue waters, and fun activities.  We look forward to welcoming you to South Florida in September for another successful Hybrid PAVA Symposium.

Sincerely,
